NANA’S BUTTERNUT SQUASH

1 large butternut squash
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 to 1/2 cup real maple syrup or brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Peel and cube butternut squash.  Combine squash and onion in a large pan with water and boil until squash is fork tender; drain. Add maple syrup and cinnamon to squash and mash until just blended.  Serve hot.
