DIANA’S MARINATED VEGETABLE SALAD

3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup vinegar
1/2 cup oil
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 can shoepeg corn
1 can French-style green beans
1 can peas
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped red or green pepper
1 tablespoon chopped pimento

Combine sugar, vinegar, oil, water, pepper, and salt in a small saucepan; bring to a boil.  Remove from heat; cool.  Place remaining ingredients in a large bowl.  Pour vinegar mixture over vegetables; cover and chill at least 4 hours.  To serve, use a slotted spoon.
